General information about the online specialty courses

Specialty courses

This webpage offers the possibility to do the academic part of some fascinating specialties online. Before starting your online training, you should look if an instructor who speaks your language is available close to you or in a region you want to visit for diving. You might want to contact the instructor to set a date for the practical part of your course.

The online courses offered on this page can be qualified as “in depth”. The aim is to provide you with answers to questions you may already have and to develop your understanding of the special interest subject of the course. The courses are modular. At the end of each section you answer questions based on the theory you have just completed. Correct answers then give you access to the next section of the course.

After course completion, you receive an email with a document attached. This document must be handed to your instructor when you start the practical part of your training. Although there is no formal time-limit, we recommend that you keep the delay between the end of the academic part and the beginning of your practical training reasonably short. After you have completed the online part of the course, you will still have access to the course for another month. This allows you to review the information before starting the practical part.

Seminars

Online seminars are for personal development only. Interested divers and those who envy a career as a diving professional are the typical participants. You should look at the seminars as a “digital classroom”. You pay your tuition fees and receive access to the classroom with the subject of your choice for the duration of one month. At the end of that period, you can renew your access to that page or, if you have already completed the subject, you can sign up for another subject.

Seminars do not have any practical training – the subjects are academic only. The level at which subjects are covered is high. After all – the main goal is to provide a learning environment for those who wish to make a living as a diving professional. This means that the knowledge provided on these pages must be adequate to answer questions of student divers at any course level.

The core information is modular. At the end of each section you answer questions based on the essence of the theory you have just learned. Correct answers then give you access to the next section of the seminar. Because of the nature of seminars, optional links and documents allow you to “dive deeper” into the subject. After answering the questions on the last page of a seminar, you will receive a confirmation that you have successfully completed the subject.
